The Autumn Winds
03:43

All I can say is that still to this day
That I can remember her smile
She was the sweetest dream, a reigning beauty queen
She was my Jewel of the Nile
I was a stable boy and more than a little coy
And I couldn't put out that fire
When she wore that purple dress down by the meadow cress
My heart it filled with desire
And I knew, I knew that
Summer love
Will always end the same
As days go by, the Autumn winds
Will blow out the flame, the flame
We danced around it that summer
Confounded by our feelings of love
I made the first move under the new moon
As it shone from above
She slept as I read poems to her in bed
She was so cute that way
And when August came with neither to blame
She wouldn't let me say
That it's true, it's true that
Summer love
Always ends the same
As days go by, the Autumn winds
Will blow out the flame, the flame
And all I can say is that still to this day
That I can remember her smile

Little Huck Finn's got a monkey on his back
He's gonna get away, a-never coming back
Little Huck Finn's got no woman to drag him down
He's gonna get away, On and on, down the river
Little Huck Finn's got a friend that he calls Jim
They're floating on the tide, taken by the wind
And Huck and Jim are riding down on the river bend
Singing la-la-la la-la-la, On and on, down the river
And little Tom Sawyer's back at home
Painting fences, stealing yo-yo's, and playing alone
Becky Thatcher won't let Tom out of her sight
And Aunt Polly says,
"You better get back before you can't tell wrong from right"
Little Huck Finn is a man unto himself
Wearing ladies clothes he found up on the shelf
But Little Huck Finn can't thread a needle
Now his covers blown, he's back on and on, down the river
Little Huck Finn doesn't know which way to go
The Duke and the King tell him one thing but they don't really know, oh no
'Cause little Huck Finn hasn't found what he's looking for
He's a lonely soul, floating On and on, down the river
And little Tom Sawyer is back at home
Painting fences, stealing yo-yo's, and playing alone
Becky Thatcher restrains Tom with all her might
And Aunt Polly says,
"You better get back before you can't tell black from white"
Little Huck Finn's got a monkey on his back
He's gonna get back home and get his life on track
'Cause Little Huck Finn had his friends and family scared
He should have never left, to go on and on, down the river

Dreamers At Heart
05:55
|

I left my home in the woods
Drove to the city where the living was good
I played all night in a bar
Lived on my tips and I slept in my car
I met a girl named Anne
She played the fiddle and we started a band
She was someone I adored
Got a place in Brooklyn that we could afford
We played show after show
And talked every night about a life on the road
We said that nothing could tear us apart
Oh well, I guess we're dreamers at heart
Dreamers at heart
Over time, things got tight
Shows became scarce and we started to fight
I got a job in the spring
When no one would pay to hear me sing
She went to London in May
Said she would write if she decided to stay
In August, she finally came home
She couldn't pay the rent so she started to roam
And every night i'd lie awake
Thinking about all the give and take
What happened to our fresh new start?
I don't know if we're dreamers at heart
Dreamers at Heart
I lost my job in the fall
I read that the economy had hit a wall
I couldn't pay for my dream
And every silver lining has a broken seam
I left the city for good
But I would still write her whenever I could
And even though we're apart
More than ever we're dreamers at heart
More than ever we're dreamers at heart
Dreamers at heart

When You're Gone
03:09
|
|
||
The clock on the wall says its time but I don't believe it
'Cause that clock tends to lie anytime that you're leaving
We say our goodbyes under starry skies
But nothing compares with the stars in your eyes
The calendar says it's May but I don't believe it
'Cause That calendar lies in the same way, it's so deceiving
A month away to the day feels like too long
So until then i'll write this song
They say that every dog has its day
Well I just that's just something they say
They say that there's plenty of fish in the sea
But not for me 'cause i'm not fishing anymore
And I will write you a song
To sing you when you're gone
A melody, a sing-a-long
To keep me with you when you're gone
To keep me busy when you're gone
'Cause I really miss you when you're gone

Then Came The Rain...
03:41
|
|
||
I looked out for miles
A sea of cars was all that I could see
And I looked down at my feet
Broken bottles and cigarettes lined the street
I sat to rest for a while
As the band on stage began to play
I couldn't help but smile
As the clouds came in to ruin our day
Then came the rain
And there were no gods to blame
Just a sad cloud's little game
And don't it feel the same?
Feels like nothing's changed
Don't it feel the same?
It's only rain, it's only rain
I looked out for miles
An endless ocean filled my view
We talked about it for a while
We talked about how we had nothing left to lose
We walked in the sand for a while
As the sun in the sky began to set
I fell in love with your smile
It was a summer I would never forget
Then came the rain
And there were no gods to blame
Just a sad cloud's little game
And don't it feel the same?
Feels like nothing's changed
Don't it feel the same?
It's only rain, it's only rain
I looked out for miles
A sea of people was all that I could see
And they all just passed me by
'Cause in the end it's only you and I

Andy Wakeman Manchester, Connecticut
Singer-songwriter Andy Wakeman is an old soul and that's reflected in his writing. Thoughtfully written songs are delivered with an indie-folk bend to them. Wakeman's songs are the type of tunes that could be performed with a full backing band, or with just the man and his guitar. - Chip McCabe, Lonesome Noise ... more
